Finding the Perfect Rug Size for Your Space

Choosing the right rug size can transform your room. Here's our comprehensive guide to help you select the perfect dimensions for every space in your home.

Living Room

Small (5' x 8' or 6' x 9'): Ideal for defining a seating area in smaller living rooms. Place in front of the sofa with front furniture legs on the rug.

4' x 6' Rug:  Perfect for accent placement in small spaces or in front of a loveseat.

Medium (8' x 10'): The most popular choice for living rooms. All furniture front legs should rest on the rug, creating a cohesive seating area.

Medium (9' x 12'): Ideal for larger spaces with all furniture comfortably on the rug.

Large (10' x 14' or larger): Perfect for spacious living rooms. All furniture pieces can sit entirely on the rug for a luxurious, anchored look.

Dining Room

Key Rule: Your rug should extend at least 24-30 inches beyond the table on all sides to accommodate chairs when pulled out.

For a 6-person table: 8' x 10' rug

For an 8-person table: 9' x 12' rug

For Round table: 6' x 6' or larger depending on the table size

Bedroom

King Bed: 9' x 12' or larger. The rug should be visible on three sides of the bed.

Queen Bed: 8' x 10' or 9' x 12' rug. Position so the rug extends 18-24 inches beyond the sides and foot of the bed.

Tip: Leave 4-6 inches of floor space on each side of the runner.

Small Kitchen Accent (2' x 3'):  Ideal for targeted placement at the sink workspace

Kitchen Rug (3' x 5'): Great for covering the main cooking and prep area in front of the stove
